Kotosh Day Trip
At your chosen time, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Huánuco and head to the archaeological site of Kotosh, located just 3 miles (5 kilometers) away.
This site features constructions that are over 4,200 years old, representing some of the earliest examples of Andean architecture. The most notable structure is the Temple of the Crossed Hands, a rectangular ceremonial building where high reliefs of two crossed hands were found. The symbolism of the hands may relate to Andean cosmovision and origins of the world.
We will explore the stone and mud constructions in Kotosh while absorbing the atmosphere of this sacred site. Additionally, we will visit the Temple of the Crossed Hands and discuss its discovery by Japanese archaeologist Seiichi Izumi in the 1960s.
Our final stop will be at a magnetic point within the complex, which often surprises and captivates visitors.
After spending 2 hours exploring the ancient ruins of Kotosh, we will return to Huánuco and drop you off at your hotel.
