Discover the fascinating history behind the Temple of the Crossed Hands and more ancient constructions on our Kotosh Day Trip. We'll depart from Huánuco and spend a day exploring this incredible place.

Kotosh Day Trip

At your chosen time, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Huánuco and head to the archaeological site of Kotosh, located 3 miles (5 kilometers) away.

This site features constructions that are over 4,200 years old, representing some of the earliest examples of Andean architecture. The most notable structure is the Temple of the Crossed Hands, a rectangular ceremonial building where high reliefs of two crossed hands were found. The significance of these hands may be linked to Andean cosmovision and the origins of the world.

We will walk among the stone and mud constructions in Kotosh, absorbing the atmosphere of this sacred site. Additionally, we will visit the Temple of the Crossed Hands and discuss its discovery by Japanese archaeologist Seiichi Izumi in the 1960s.

Our final stop will be at a magnetic point within the complex, which tends to surprise visitors. After 2 hours of exploring the ancient ruins of Kotosh, we'll return to Huánuco and drop you off at your hotel.
