Witches Valley Tour

We will pick you up at 8 am at your lodging in Huanuco to begin this tour in which we will discover the most mysteries and legends of the Enchanted River Valley, also known as the Valley of the Witches.

The first stop will be at the church of the Forgotten Christ, known for a phenomenon in 1986 when the image of Jesus Christ on the cross bled spontaneously. We will explore the temple and hear the story behind its name, Church of the Miraculous Crucified Christ.

We will then visit the Cerro de las Brujas, which is named after the valley and is associated with many legends regarding its past connections to witches. You will learn about their activities in this area.

As we cross the valley, we will see colonial-era sites like the Hacienda Ingenio and the church of San Miguel Arcángel, established by Franciscan monks. Next, we will visit the house where Simon Bolivar spent the night in 1822, discussing mysterious stories from his stay.

We will also approach the chullpa de Collormayo, a pre-Inca funeral monument, to learn about the funeral rites of this culture. The tour will conclude at a zoo and a craft museum featuring ceramics from the Atash, Acosh, and Chavín cultures, along with examples of ecological art.

Finally, we will take you back to your lodging in Huánuco, arriving by 2 pm.
