Witches Valley Tour

We will pick you up at 8 am at your lodging in Huanuco to begin this tour in which we will discover the most mysteries and legends of the Enchanted River Valley, better known as the Valley of the Witches.

The first stop will be at the church of the Forgotten Christ, known for an incident in 1986 when the image of Jesus Christ on the cross reportedly bled spontaneously. We will explore the temple and learn about this event, granting it the name Church of the Miraculous Crucified Christ.

Next, we will visit the Cerro de las Brujas, the namesake of the valley, known for its legends involving witches. You will learn about activities associated with this site.

As we traverse the valley, we will see colonial remnants such as the Hacienda Ingenio and the church of San Miguel Arcángel, established by Franciscan monks for missionary work. A stop will also be made at the house where Simon Bolivar spent the night in 1822, with stories about his stay.

We will approach the chullpa de Collormayo, a pre-Inca burial monument to discuss ancestral funeral customs. Our final stops will include a zoo and a craft museum showing ceramics from the Atash, Acosh, and Chavín cultures and ecological art samples.

We will return you to your lodging in Huánuco by 2 pm.
