Visit the Racchi Ayllu community to engage with local culture and learn about ancestral textile techniques. Participate in a weaving workshop and create your own garment.
Tour Options
Choose between two options, both starting at kilometer 35 in the Racchi Ayllu community. Each option includes an English-speaking guide, materials for the weaving workshop, and food for llamas and alpacas. A lunch featuring soup, a traditional dish, and a seasonal drink is included.
Details of each tour option are as follows:
Bracelet Workshop (2 Hours and 40 Minutes)
Begin with a warm welcome and lunch, followed by interactions with llamas and alpacas. Visit the guinea pig barn to learn about domestication. Participate in a bracelet weaving workshop guided by local craftswomen, discussing textile creation from wool to dyeing. You can purchase hand-woven textiles at the end of the experience.
Schedule: every day at 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm.
Waist Weaving Workshop (4 Hours)
This option includes feeding llamas and alpacas while learning about guinea pig domestication and the mission to empower vulnerable women. Participate in hand spinning wool, dyeing wool, and waist weaving using sheep and alpaca fibers. Take home dyed wool and the belt you create, with the option to purchase handcrafted items.
Schedule: every day at 9 am and 12 noon.
