Racchi Ayllu Community Visit + Andean Weaving Workshop

Visit the Racchi Ayllu community and engage with locals to learn about their ancestral textile techniques, including the opportunity to weave a garment.

Tour Options

You can choose between two options, starting at kilometer 35 in Racchi Ayllu, both including an English-speaking guide, materials for the workshop, and food for llamas and alpacas, as well as a delicious lunch with soup, a traditional main course, and fruit drink.

Bracelet Workshop (2 Hours and 40 Minutes)

This option begins with a warm welcome and hearty lunch. You'll interact with llamas and alpacas, visit the guinea pig barn, and partake in a bracelet weaving workshop guided by local craftswomen, learning about textile production from wool collection to dyeing. At the end, there’s an option to purchase hand-woven textiles.

Schedule: every day at 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm.

Waist Weaving Workshop (4 Hours)

This workshop includes feeding llamas and alpacas and learning about guinea pig domestication. You will engage in dyeing and other textile processes alongside a craftswoman, including hand spinning wool and waist weaving with sheep and alpaca fibers. At the end, participants can take home the dyed wool and created belt, with an option to purchase local handcrafted items.
