Huelva: On the Trail of Christopher Columbus
After being picked up from your chosen pickup point, the tour will cover the "lugares colombinos", the historic route in the province of Huelva visited by Columbus. The first stop is Palos de la Frontera, where an expert local guide will provide insight into the town's history.
In Palos de la Frontera, visit the 13th-century La Rábida Friary, where Columbus stayed after his 1490 request for expedition support was rejected. This site has been a Spanish National Monument since 1856.
Next, visit the Wharf of the Caravels, a museum dedicated to Columbus' journey, featuring a reproduction of the Medieval Palos harbour. Here, you will see full-size replicas of the ships: Pinta, Niña, and Santa María.
The Wharf also features the Isla del Encuentro, or "Island of Discovery", showcasing scenes explorers may have encountered on arrival in the "New World".
After the exploration of Columbus' trail in Huelva, you will be returned to your pickup location in the city centre.
Pickup
The tour includes pickup in Islantilla, El Portil, El Rompido, Huelva, Isla Canela, Isla Cristina, and Punta Umbria. During the booking process, the different meeting points will be available for selection.
