Black Pottery Workshop in La Chamba
During this black pottery workshop in La Chamba, participants will learn about an ancient craft tradition and create clay objects. The experience begins at 9 am at Carrera 6, exploring aspects of Colombian indigenous culture.
First, the group will travel to La Chamba, stopping in El Espinal for breakfast. La Chamba is known for its artisan tradition originating from the Yoropogos Indians, where residents work with black clay to create pots, vessels, and figurines.
At 10 am, participants will visit an artisan center to learn about the processes of creating black ceramic objects and the region's popular clay figurines, including the Mohán, which depicts a seated man smoking tobacco.
Afterward, participants will have the chance to exhibit their pottery skills and model black ceramic figures while wearing aprons. Following the workshop, the group will visit the Magdalena River, from which clay is sourced, and enjoy a walk along the banks. The tour will continue with a traditional lunch at a local farm, followed by free time to utilize the swimming pool.
Finally, the group will return to Ibagué, arriving back at the meeting point around 6 pm.
