4-Day Private Hiking Expedition to El Salto Waterfall

Day 1: Ibagué - Santa Clara Farm

We will gather at 6 am at Carrera 4d in Ibagué. From there, we will embark on a 40-minute 4x4 drive to the trailhead where our hike begins. Prepare for a thrilling experience!

Prior to setting out, a hearty breakfast will fuel us for the day ahead. Once energized, we will traverse the rugged mountainous landscape toward Santa Clara Farm. Spanning eight hours, this segment leads us past several waterfalls, ultimately reaching a stunning viewpoint with panoramic vistas. Remember to bring your camera!

As evening falls, we will arrive at Finca Santa Clara for a satisfying dinner, followed by a restful night at the campsite in anticipation of the following day’s adventure.

Day 2: Santa Clara Farm - Meridiano Farm

The second day begins with a nourishing breakfast to ensure we’re ready for what’s next. Once prepared, we shall embark on a remarkable five-hour hike to our next overnight location at Finca Meridiano.

Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the Nevado del Tolima, which rises over 5200 meters (17060 feet). We will meander along the trail, soaking in the sights of the San Romualdo river canyon.

Upon reaching Finca Meridiano, we will dine and settle down for the night at the campsite.

Day 3: Meridiano Farm - El Salto Farm

On this day, breakfast will fuel us for our 8 am departure as we set out on our hiking route once again. Refreshed and ready, we will engage in an excursion lasting approximately eight hours.

We will navigate through challenging terrain, and as we climb, the humidity will noticeably increase. Continuing through the San Romualdo river canyon, we will finally reach the awe-inspiring El Salto waterfall—the scenery will be absolutely breathtaking!

Our day will culminate at the El Salto School’s rural inn, renowned for its beauty and home to young farmers. Here, we will enjoy a wholesome lunch consisting of soup, vegetables, rice, meat, and fresh juice or lemonade, followed by relaxation until the next morning.

Day 4: El Salto Farm - Ibagué

On our final day, after breakfast, we will journey towards Juntas. Enjoy a scenic five-hour drive, taking in the surrounding beauty at the base of the snow-capped volcano, and passing through Combeima Canyon, the gateway to Los Nevados National Park.

After arriving in Juntas, we will board a vehicle for the return to central Ibagué, completing our hiking expedition by 5 pm. We look forward to seeing you again!
