A day trip to the Entreaguas Natural Reserve to enjoy its biodiversity while hiking is recommended during your visit to Ibagué.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ibagué to begin our journey to the Entreaguas Natural Reserve, located on the trail of San Simón Coello.
We will first stop for a typical breakfast featuring a popular lechona tolimense, a dish of grilled pork meat stuffed with onions, peas, fresh herbs, and spices, served with rice. This dish has been recognized as the best pork dish in the world by a culinary platform, and you will get to taste it!
After breakfast, we will proceed to the Coello-Cocora trail to start a hiking route that explores the flora and fauna of this area and the legacy of Álvaro Mutis, an influential Colombian author inspired by Entreaguas.
We will walk alongside the Coello River amidst exotic vegetation while sharing local cultural stories. We will cross the hidden waterfalls of this sanctuary, observing creeks, native plants, and colorful birds. Later, we will visit a local family for a countryside lunch offering authentic flavors.
Our experience will include local music where participants can sing, dance, and play instruments. We will conclude with a crafts workshop featuring hot chocolate and an arepa. Finally, we will return to Ibagué, dropping you off at your hotel approximately 11 hours after pickup.
