Nevado del Tolima Private 4-day Hiking Route

Day 1: Ibagué - Finca Vancouver

Meet at Carrera 4d in Ibagué at 4 am. We will take a 4x4 to the trekking point. After a three and a half hour journey, we will arrive at La Punta in Palomar. After breakfast, we will walk 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) through the Amberes valley and enjoy the Vancouver and Bombona lakes before lunch. We will spend the night at Finca Vancouver.

Day 2: Finca Vancouver - Arenales

Starting with breakfast, we will hike 13 kilometres (8 miles) with a climb of 790 metres (2591 feet). The trail features moorlands and sandy areas inhabited by toucans and Andean condors. After lunch, we will reach an altitude of 4400 metres (14435 feet) for a panoramic view before overnighting at the Arenales campsite.

Day 3: Arenales - Cañon Hot Springs

We will begin early with snacks and embark on a 12-kilometre (7.4 miles) hike to the summit of the Nevado del Tolima. This hike will take about ten hours, culminating at over 5200 metres (17060 feet), with views of Nevado de Ruiz, Nevado del Cisne, and Nevado de Santa Isabel. We will then relax at the Cañón hot springs until the next day.

Day 4: Cañón Hot Springs - Ibagué

We will hike 18 kilometres (11 miles) back to La Punta, passing through Palomar and visiting El Salto waterfall. Lunch will consist of beef stew. We will return to Ibagué by 7 pm.
