Monsanto Tour

At 9:30 am, we'll meet in front of the Igreja Matriz de São Salvador to start the tour. After viewing the church façade and learning about its history, we will walk through the quiet streets of Monsanto. As we proceed to the castle, we will explore the town's past, including significant battles and living legends.

We will enter the rugged landscape of Monsanto, known for its granite mountain setting and recognized as the most Portuguese village in Portugal.

Our destination is the castle of Monsanto, which features remaining walls, the towers of Lucena and Piao, the half-ruined chapel of San Miguel, and the restored chapel of Santa Maria do Castelo. The castle offers excellent views of Monsanto and the surrounding area.

After two hours of exploration, we will conclude the guided tour by returning to the starting point.
