Guided Walking Tour of Iglesias
At your selected time, we'll meet in Piazza Quintino Sella. From this point, we'll begin our walking tour of Iglesias, ready to learn about its history and admire its main monuments.
We'll start the guided tour revealing some historical curiosities of this medieval town. We'll discuss its mining past and its role when Sardinia was part of the Kingdom of Spain.
We'll walk past the medieval walls and towers of Iglesias until we arrive in front of the Castle of Salvaterra, dating back to the 13th century. Afterwards, we'll return to the city centre to admire the façades of its main churches. The town's name means Churches in Spanish. We'll see the Church of San Domenico, the Church of La Purísima, the Church of San Marcello, the Cathedral of Santa Clara, and various parish churches from different periods.
Along the route, we'll also see art deco buildings like the Electra Theatre and monuments commemorating the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
After a two-hour tour of Iglesias, we'll end our visit in Piazza Guglielmo Oberdan.
