Guided Walking Tour of Iglesias
At your selected time, we will meet in Piazza Quintino Sella to begin our walking tour of Iglesias and learn about its history while admiring its main monuments.
The tour will reveal historical curiosities of this medieval town, including its mining past and its role when Sardinia was part of the Kingdom of Spain.
We will walk past the medieval walls and towers of Iglesias to arrive at the Castle of Salvaterra, originating from the 13th century. We will then return to the city center to view the façades of notable churches. The town's name translates to Churches in Spanish. Key sites include the Church of San Domenico, the Church of La Purísima, the Church of San Marcello, the Cathedral of Santa Clara, and various parish churches from different periods.
Along the route, we will also see art deco buildings such as the Electra Theatre and monuments commemorating fallen soldiers from the First World War.
