Diving at Ilhabela Shipwrecks
The coasts of Ilhabela are suitable for both diving enthusiasts and history lovers. The meeting point is at the diving school on Avenida Riachuelo at a time of your choice. This Brazilian island is an ideal destination for those who enjoy diving into both history and water.
After equipping with scuba diving gear and oxygen tanks, participants will dive into the waters of Ilhabela with a professional snorkeling instructor. Divers will explore the wreckage of ships that sank decades ago, including the Aymoré, a cargo ship that sank during a storm in 1920.
Divers will also see the wreckage of the English ocean liner Velazquez, which sunk with 137 crew members on board, all of whom survived. Participants will observe aquatic species, such as crustaceans and sea sponges, that have inhabited the wrecks.
The activity lasts for 4 hours, concluding with a return to the surface.
