Diving at Ilhabela Shipwrecks
The coasts of Ilhabela are a destination for diving enthusiasts and history lovers. Participants will meet at a time of their choice at the diving school on Avenida Riachuelo. This location is ideal for those interested in diving into both the past and the water.
After donning scuba diving gear and oxygen tanks, participants will dive into the waters of Ilhabela with a professional snorkeling instructor. Divers will swim among shipwrecks that sank decades ago, including the Aymoré, a cargo ship that sank in a storm in 1920.
Additionally, the wreck of the English ocean liner Velazquez, which sank with 137 crew members aboard, will be explored. All crew members survived the incident. Participants will observe how aquatic species, such as crustaceans and sea sponges, have inhabited the remains of these wrecks.
After 4 hours of exploring this underwater world, the activity will conclude and participants will return to the surface.
