On this tour, we'll explore the Chocolate Route of Ilhéus and visit a cocoa farm to learn about the origins of cocoa.

Day Trip to a Cocoa Farm

Between 8 and 8:40 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ilhéus to begin the Chocolate Route. We will travel by minibus through the road connecting the cocoa-producing farms to this town.

While crossing the Atlantic Forest, known for its cocoa plantations, we will explore the reasons behind the fame of this crop in the region. Notably, chocolates produced here have received awards in Europe, with some local companies operating for over 250 years.

We will stop at a hacienda to walk through the grounds, observe daily tasks among cocoa trees, and learn about cultivation and harvesting. We will also explore other products that can be made from cocoa aside from traditional chocolate bars.

The tour includes a tasting of delicious homemade chocolate made on the farm, and options to purchase additional sweets as souvenirs.

We will conclude the activity by dropping you off at your hotel at 1 pm.
