Day Trip Details
Having picked you up at the designated time from your hotel in Iquique, we'll set off eastbound for Mamiña. This small town, located in Chile's Tarapacá region, is famous throughout the country for its invigorating hot springs.
On our way there, we'll cross a vast desert landscape of candelabra cacti at the foot of several reddish hills. When we get to Mamiña, we'll take a guided tour of the village. We'll walk through the streets, admire the liparite stone buildings and pause at the main square. We'll also stop at the church, which was built in 1632.
During our tour of Mamiña, we'll learn about its Quechua roots and centuries-old customs. After visiting the centre of the village, we'll go to the Chinese mud hot springs. Here, you'll be able to take a relaxing dip and exfoliate your skin. Once you've finished, we'll have three dishes featuring the local gastronomy at a nearby restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, we'll visit a cheese factory in the outskirts of the village. Our tour will then take us to the Ipla Hot Springs, known for its open-air pools with water between 40 and 45 degrees, which have therapeutic properties that help relieve muscle and joint pain.
We'll then leave the Ipla Hot Springs and take you back to your hotel in Iquique, where we'll arrive after a total of 10 hours.
