Red Lagoon Day Trip
At 5 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquique and set off for the high plateau of northern Chile.
On the way, we'll pass through the crossroads of Huara and stop at the petroglyphs of Chillaiza, which date back to the Inca Empire and feature figures carved into rock. Our next stop will be in the small village of Camiña, where we'll have a hearty breakfast.
We'll leave the Tarapacá area and head to Arica and Parinacota. Upon reaching an altitude of 12,139 feet (3,700 meters), we'll see the Red Lagoon by the Caritaya River. We'll explore the area and learn about the lagoon's unique crimson color and the legend surrounding it.
Nearby, we'll find the smaller Green and Yellow Lagoons, whose colors result from different minerals and microalgae.
After admiring these lagoons, we'll return to Camiña for lunch, consisting of three dishes to sample local gastronomy. After lunch, we'll take you back to your hotel in Iquique, dropping you off at 6 pm.
