Red Lagoon Day Trip
At 5 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquique and set off for the high plateau of northern Chile.
On the way, we'll pass through the crossroads of Huara and stop at the petroglyphs of Chillaiza, which date back to the Inca Empire. Our next stop will be the small village of Camiña for a hearty breakfast.
We'll then head to Arica and Parinacota, reaching an altitude of 12,139 feet (3,700 metres) to see the Red Lagoon by the Caritaya River. We’ll explore the area and learn about the legend surrounding the lagoon's crimson colour. Nearby, we'll find the smaller Green and Yellow Lagoons, colored by various minerals and microalgae.
After visiting the lagoons, we'll return to Camiña for lunch, featuring three dishes that highlight local gastronomy. Following lunch, we will return you to your hotel in Iquique, arriving by 6 pm.
