Red Lagoon Day Trip
Your adventure begins at 5 am with the collection from your hotel in Iquique, as we journey towards the high plateau of northern Chile.
En route, we will traverse the Huara crossroads and make a stop at the Chillaiza petroglyphs, remnants dating back to the time of the Inca Empire, where you will observe intricate rock carvings. Our next destination will be the quaint village of Camiña, where a satisfying breakfast awaits.
Leaving behind the Tarapacá region, we progress to the northernmost area of Arica and Parinacota. Upon reaching an impressive altitude of 12,139 feet (3,700 meters), we will finally behold the Red Lagoon near the Caritaya River. Are you curious about the lagoon's captivating crimson hue? Let's explore its origins! We'll delve into the surroundings of the lake and uncover the legend that envelops it...
Not far from the Red Lagoon, we will also discover the intriguing Green and Yellow Lagoons, notable for their brilliant tones caused by various minerals and microalgae present in the waters.
After soaking in the beauty of these lagoons, we will return to Camiña to refuel with a delicious lunch, featuring three local dishes that showcase the region's unique culinary delights. Post-lunch, your journey continues as we return you to your hotel in Iquique, arriving around 6 pm.
