Red Lagoon Day Trip
Your adventure begins at 5 am with a pick-up from your accommodation in Iquique, followed by a drive toward the stunning northern Chilean highlands.
As we travel, we'll make a brief stop at the Huara crossroads to explore the petroglyphs of Chillaiza. These ancient carvings, originating from the Inca Empire, depict intriguing figures etched into the rock. Continuing onward, we’ll visit the quaint village of Camiña for a substantial breakfast.
Departing from the Tarapacá region, we enter Chile's northernmost area: Arica and Parinacota. Ascending to an impressive 12,139 feet (3,700 metres), we will arrive at the vibrant Red Lagoon, adjacent to the Caritaya River. Discover the unique reasons behind the lagoon's crimson hue and delve into the legends that surround this enchanting site.
Not far from the Red Lagoon, the exquisite Green and Yellow Lagoons await, showcasing their beautiful colors due to varied minerals and microalgae present in their waters.
After immersing ourselves in the breathtaking views of these lagoons, we'll return to Camiña for a delicious lunch. The meal will include three dishes that offer a taste of the region's culinary delights. After we savor our meal, we will return you to your hotel in Iquique, concluding the day around 6 pm.
