3 or 4-Day Yanamono Forest Tour
Day 1: Iquitos - Yanamono Forest
Welcome to Iquitos! We'll pick you up at the airport and head to the port, where we'll board a boat to the Yanamono Forest. Upon arrival at the lodge, we'll drop off luggage and visit Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island), a rescue center for primates. After lunch, we'll hike through the Yanamono forest and learn about its biodiversity, followed by a sunset boat ride on the Amazon River to observe nocturnal fauna. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Yanamono Forest
The second day starts with an early morning birdwatching tour. After breakfast, we'll visit a community of Indigenous Amazonian Peoples to learn about their lifestyle and techniques. We will have a typical meal and go fishing in the Amazon River, aiming to see the famous pink dolphins. The day concludes with an evening stroll through the Yanamono forest and dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Yanamono Forest - Iquitos
After breakfast, we will discover the Victoria Regia water lilies in a nearby lake. Following this, we will return to Iquitos, concluding the 3-day tour at the airport.
4 Day Tour
You can extend your experience to a 4-day tour, which includes a canoe trip along the Amazon River on the fourth day.
Accommodation
Both tours include accommodation at the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge with full board. Facilities include rustic-style rooms, a swimming pool, hammocks, and a large dining room.
Note about flights
For flights, we recommend:
Outbound flight Lima - Iquitos: arrive before 9 am.Return flight Iquitos - Lima: depart after 6 pm.
Flights outside these times will incur an extra boat transfer service of 180 USD per person. These recommendations do not apply if you stay overnight in Iquitos before or after the tour.
