Iquitos Guided Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at the central Avenida Antonio Raimondi to start a comprehensive tour of Iquitos. We will discover the main attractions of this city located on the banks of the Amazon River and delve into its history.
We will explore the historic center of Iquitos, admiring mansions decorated with tiles from Europe, remnants of the rubber boom in the late 19th century.
We will see the façade of the Casa de Fierro, designed by Gustave Eiffel, and visit the Museum of Indigenous Amazonian Cultures, where we will view handicrafts and textiles from local ethnic groups.
Next, we will explore the Mercado de Belén, where we can observe local lifestyle and various products such as fruits, fish, and meat.
After the market, we will have about an hour free for lunch at a restaurant. Once we finish, we will take a minibus to the outskirts of the city to visit a manatee rescue center, learning about volunteer efforts to save these aquatic mammals.
The tour will conclude at the Quistococha Zoo, home to various Amazonian species including jaguars, monkeys, tapirs, caimans, snakes, and macaws. You can observe them closely!
At 5 pm, the tour will finish back at the starting point.
