Iquitos Guided Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at the central Avenida Antonio Raimondi to start a guided tour of Iquitos. We will discover the main attractions of this city located on the Amazon River and delve into its history.
We'll explore the historic center of Iquitos, admiring mansions with tiles brought from Europe during the rubber boom of the late 19th century. We'll pass by the Casa de Fierro, designed by Gustave Eiffel, and visit the Museum of Indigenous Amazonian Cultures, showcasing handicrafts and textiles from various local ethnic groups.
Next, we'll stop at the Mercado de Belén, a lively market where you can experience local culture and find various products including fruit and meat.
After visiting the market, there will be about an hour for lunch at a restaurant. Post-lunch, we'll board a minibus to the outskirts of the city to visit a manatee rescue center, learning about efforts to save these mammals from extinction.
The tour's final stop will be Quistococha Zoo, home to a variety of Amazonian species such as jaguars, monkeys, and macaws. You'll have the opportunity to see these animals up close.
At 5 pm, the tour will conclude back at the starting point.
