3-Day Pacaya Samiria Tour

Day 1



Our journey begins with a pickup in Iquitos at 8 AM, followed by a bus ride to the charming town of Nauta. Upon arrival, we'll make our way to the Marañon River, one of the Amazon's key tributaries flowing through the Pacaya Samiria. Here, a boat will be ready to take us on a picturesque 3.5-hour cruise along the river, where the stunning canyons carved by the Marañon will leave you in awe.



After our boat excursion, we'll arrive at our campsite, where tents will be set up for the evening. A moment of relaxation will follow in our accommodations, allowing us to recharge before diving into the rich Amazon jungle. A flavorful traditional Peruvian meal will await, with options catering to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian choices alongside chicken, fish, vegetables, and tropical fruits.



Later, we’ll hop into another boat for an excursion to the expansive Huaylla Lake. As we cruise, keep an eye out for the breathtaking wildlife endemic to the reserve, including herons, shanshos, camungos, and the fascinating pink river dolphins. Our expert guide will unveil even more surprises along the way.



As night descends, we'll encounter nocturnal marvels, from shadowy tarantulas to the sounds of various exotic wildlife thriving after dark.



At the end of this exciting day, we’ll head back to the campsite for a well-deserved rest in the tents. The adventure has only just begun!

Day 2



Following a hearty breakfast at the camp, we’ll venture deeper into the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve to set up tonight's camp. This natural immersion will reveal various species of flora and fauna native to the jungle.



Look up to the sky, and you may spot birds soaring above the treetops, their vibrant feathers, like those of the yellow-crowned parrot, painting a colorful canvas against the greenery.



We'll also have the opportunity to see magnificent mammals inhabiting the Amazon, such as sloths and different monkey species. With a bit of luck, we might witness these incredible creatures maneuvering among the high branches of the forest.



Before wrapping up our day in the reserve, we’ll embark on a night boat ride to observe caimans, turtles, and even fearsome anacondas in their natural surroundings. After this fascinating exploration, we’ll return to the campsite for our final night in the Amazon.

Day 3



The final day is dedicated to experiencing Indigenous fishing traditions. We will have the opportunity to catch fish like piranhas.



After enjoying a substantial breakfast at the camp, we will once more delve into the jungle, admiring the exotic birds and stunning landscapes that surround us.



Returning to the campsite, we will refuel with a delicious meal. Once we’ve recharged, we will board a boat back to Nauta, followed by a bus ride returning us to Iquitos.

5-Day Tour



For those who wish to delve even deeper into the Amazon rainforest, consider the 5-day tour. This extended experience allows for two additional days of exploration within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.

Accommodation



Your stay will be located within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. You have the option to choose between a private room at the base camp with shared facilities or camping in the jungle, with all necessary equipment provided for your comfort.



You can decide whether to spend 1 or 2 nights in either type of accommodation or a total of 2 or 4 nights at a single location.

Pickup Point



This tour includes a pickup service from your hotel in Iquitos or Iquitos Airport, provided your flight arrives prior to 12 PM.
