Discover the wild side of the Amazon rainforest in Peru with a trip to Pacaya Samiria National Park, home to a rich diversity of birds, mammals, and fish.
Pacaya Samiria Day Trip
We will pick you up at your hotel in downtown Iquitos or at the airport before traveling to Nauta, a town in Loreto province. The 1.5-hour journey will take us to the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers. We will provide life jackets before boarding a boat that will take us along these waters.
During the cruise, we may see sloths and colourful birds. There is a chance to spot grey and pink dolphins as well. A typical regional lunch, known as 'Juane', will be served, consisting of chicken, egg, olive, and specially prepared rice wrapped in a green bijao leaf.
We will then enter Pacaya Samiria National Park, the fourth largest protected area in South America, covering over 20,000 km (12,400 miles) and home to 208 villages of 56 indigenous communities that depend on the reserve's natural resources.
The rainy season brings lizards, taricayas, and charapas, while warmer months allow sightings of birds, monkeys, and amphibians.
After 9 hours of adventure, we will return to your hotel.
