Yanayacu River 3, 4 or 5-Day Tour
Day 1
Your journey begins with a 9 am pickup from your hotel in Iquitos. A minibus will take us to the port, approximately 90 minutes away. Once we arrive, a small boat will be ready to transport us to our lodge, where we will settle in for our two-night stay. The adventure in the Yanayacu River is about to commence!
Upon arrival, we will drop off our luggage in the cabin and relish a delicious buffet lunch. Following our meal, a guided walk will allow us to explore the vibrant humid flora characteristic of the area.
As the day winds down, we will take in the breathtaking view of the sun setting over a serene jungle lagoon. Dinner will follow, preparing us for an exciting night. We’ll embark on a boat trip after dark to seek out exotic birds, intriguing mammals, and the elusive alligators!
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll board a boat and journey down the river to meet the remarkable pink dolphins of the Yanayacu. Along the way, we’ll also discover the famed Victoria Regia water lily, known as the largest in the world, while observing the amiable iguanas that blend seamlessly into their surroundings.
Lunch will be served at the lodge, after which you can opt to fish for piranhas in the Corriente and Purura lagoons. Subsequently, we’ll visit the local community of San Juan de Yanayacu to gain insight into their traditions, followed by dinner at the cabins. As night falls, we'll venture out to hunt for tarantulas and giant frogs.
Day 3
Following a final breakfast featuring delicious Peruvian specialties, we’ll set off in a boat towards the Sapote lagoon, where we can spot various birds along the banks. Next, we will visit the Moena lagoon to watch the charming sloths that coexist with the monkeys.
After this, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch before making our way back to Iquitos. Upon arriving at the city's port, a bus will transport you to your chosen destination. We will ensure you reach your hotel or the airport from 4 pm onwards.
4-day Tour
Opting for the four-day excursion will follow the same itinerary as the three-day trip. The afternoon on the third day will feature a guided botanical tour focused on the diverse uses of local plants.
On the fourth day, we’ll cruise to the Casha Lagoon, where we’ll encounter a greater variety of bird and monkey species. Following this concluding excursion on the Yanayacu River, a delightful buffet lunch will be provided before we return to Iquitos to drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
5-day Tour
The five-day itinerary encompasses all the activities outlined in previous tours. Additionally, you will have the chance to observe the Hoatzin or shansho bird, the white monkey, and the howler monkey, along with an exciting trip to the Juanachi lagoon.
