Yanayacu River 3, 4 or 5-Day Excursion

Day 1

Your adventure begins at 9 am, with a pickup from your hotel in Iquitos. We will board a minibus for a 90-minute ride to the port, where a small boat awaits to transport us to our lodge for the next two nights. This marks the start of our exploration of the Yanayacu River!

Upon arrival, we'll settle into our cabin and savor a delicious buffet lunch. Afterward, we’ll set out on a walk to explore the region's vibrant humid vegetation.

As the day winds down, marvel at the spectacular sunset over a serene jungle lagoon. Following dinner, we’ll embark on a nocturnal boat trip to observe exotic bird species, intriguing mammals, and the elusive alligators.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll board a boat and navigate the river towards a thriving habitat of the renowned pink dolphins found in the Yanayacu River. During our cruise, we’ll also encounter the exceptional Victoria Regia water lily, the largest water plant globally, along with friendly iguanas blending into their surroundings.

After enjoying lunch at the lodge, you have the option to go piranha fishing in the Corriente and Purura lagoons. In the afternoon, we'll visit the local community of San Juan de Yanayacu, immersing ourselves in their traditions and customs, followed by dinner back at the cabins before venturing out to search for tarantulas and giant frogs.

Day 3

Following our final breakfast filled with delectable Peruvian delights, we’ll board a boat for a visit to the Sapote lagoon, where we'll delight in observing various bird species along the riverbanks. Next, we’ll proceed to the Moena lagoon, where we might spot sloths cohabiting with monkeys.

Following this, we’ll return to the lodge for lunch before making our way back to Iquitos. Once we reach the port, a bus will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel or the airport, starting from 4 pm.

4-day Excursion

Opting for the 4-day tour means you'll follow the same itinerary as the 3-day journey. However, the afternoon of the third day will feature a special guided botany tour, diving into the uses and properties of local plants.

The fourth day invites us to sail towards the Casha Lagoon, enhancing our experience with sightings of more bird and monkey species. Following this last excursion on the Yanayacu River, we’ll savor a fulfilling buffet lunch before our return to Iquitos for your drop-off at your hotel or the airport.

5-day Excursion

The 5-day option offers all the activities included in the previous tours while adding opportunities to view the Hoatzin or shansho bird, white monkeys, and howler monkeys, along with an intriguing trip to the Juanachi lagoon.

Accommodation

Your trip encompasses 2, 3, or 4 nights of full board accommodation in a double room at a comfortable lodge. The rooms are equipped with a private bathroom and a terrace featuring hammocks overlooking the river.

Flight Times

Should your flight schedule not align with the indicated times, we can make adjustments to accommodate your arrival, though this may incur an additional fee for late pickups. Ideally, traveling during daylight allows for optimal river viewing, thus the latest departure would be at 3 pm.
