Tour to the Taxila Ruins
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Islamabad to begin this excursion to one of Pakistan's World Heritage Sites.
Our first stop will be at the Taxila Museum, where we'll learn about the Gandhara civilization, which thrived in this region 2,000 years ago. The museum displays ancient Buddhist handicrafts and sacred relics.
The next stop will be at the Dharmarajika Monastery and its stupa, one of the largest in South Asia. We'll discuss the history of this monastery that was constructed by King Ashoka to house relics of Buddha.
Next, we'll visit Sirkap, the ancient capital of Taxila, which has been partially excavated. After exploring these archaeological ruins, we'll proceed to the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian, a significant educational center still in operation today.
There, we'll see its stupa, the ruins of the ancient monastery, and the monument of the Healing Buddha, learning about the importance of this place for Buddhist monk education.
After the visit to the archaeological site of Taxila, we'll return to Islamabad and drop you off at your hotel 8 hours after pickup.
