Tour to the Taxila Ruins
On this excursion from Islamabad to the Taxila Ruins, we will explore one of the ancient centers of Buddhism, visiting Sirkap and the monasteries of Dharmarakija and Jaulian.
At the scheduled time, you will be picked up from your hotel in Islamabad to start this journey to a designated World Heritage Site.
The first stop will be at the Taxila Museum, where you will learn about the Gandhara civilization that existed in this region 2,000 years ago, showcasing ancient Buddhist handicrafts and sacred relics.
Next, you will visit the Dharmarajika Monastery and its stupa, one of the largest in South Asia, built by King Ashoka to preserve Buddha's relics.
Then, the tour will continue to Sirkap, the ancient capital of Taxila, which has been partially excavated. Following this, you will explore the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian, which remains an educational center. Highlights include its stupa, the ruins of the monastery, and the monument of the Healing Buddha, along with insights into its significance for Buddhist education.
After the visit, the return to Islamabad will take place, dropping you off at your hotel 8 hours after your initial pickup.
