Tour to the Taxila Ruins
On this excursion to the Taxila Ruins from Islamabad, we will visit significant sites of ancient Buddhist culture including Sirkap and the monasteries of Dharmarakija and Jaulian. We will pick you up from your hotel in Islamabad at the indicated time.
Our first destination is the Taxila Museum, where we will explore the Gandhara civilization that thrived in this area 2,000 years ago, viewing ancient Buddhist handicrafts and sacred relics.
Next, we will visit the Dharmarajika Monastery and its stupa, one of the largest in South Asia, known for its history tied to King Ashoka, who established it to preserve relics of Buddha.
We will then proceed to the ancient capital of Taxila, Sirkap, which is partially excavated. Following this, we will head to the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian, an important educational center that continues to operate today, where we will see its stupa, the remains of the ancient monastery, and the Healing Buddha monument, alongside discussions about its role in educating Buddhist monks.
After concluding our exploration of the Taxila archaeological site, we will return to Islamabad and drop you off at your hotel approximately 8 hours after the pickup.
