Istanbul Mosque Tour
We will meet at the German Fountain in Sultanahmet to start our tour of the mosques of Istanbul. The first mosque is Hagia Sophia, built in the 6th century AD by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. This site has served as an Orthodox Christian cathedral, a Catholic church, a mosque, and a museum. The guide will explain the exterior, and you will tour inside with an audio guide.
Next, we will visit the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. It is renowned for its interior tiles featuring geometric patterns, which contribute to its reputation as a notable example of Ottoman architecture.
Our final stop is the Suleymaniye Mosque, the largest mosque in Istanbul for over 450 years. Designed by the chief Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan during the reigns of Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II, and Murad III, it is celebrated for both its size and architectural significance.
After a 4-hour tour, we will conclude at the meeting point.
