Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Suleymaniye Mosque.
Istanbul Mosque Tour
We'll meet at the German Fountain in Sultanahmet at the scheduled time to begin our tour of the mosques of Istanbul. The tour includes visits to significant religious buildings in the Old City.
The first stop will be the Hagia Sophia, constructed in the 6th century AD by Emperor Justinian I. Originally an Orthodox Christian cathedral, it has served various roles including a mosque and museum. Guests will receive an audio guide for a self-guided tour of the interior after an exterior explanation by the guide.
Next, we will proceed to the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, recognized for its decorative blue tiles and regarded as a pinnacle of Ottoman architecture.
Our final destination is the Suleymaniye Mosque, notable for being Istanbul's largest mosque for over 450 years. It was designed by Mimar Sinan, the chief architect during the reigns of Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II, and Murad III.
After a 4-hour tour, we will conclude at the meeting point.
