Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Suleymaniye Mosque.
Istanbul Mosque Tour
We will meet at the German Fountain in Sultanahmet at the scheduled time for our tour of the mosques of Istanbul. The first mosque we will visit is Hagia Sophia, built in the 6th century AD by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I. Initially an Orthodox Christian cathedral, it has served as a Catholic church, mosque, and museum. Guided explanations will cover the exterior, followed by an individual tour with an audio guide inside.
Next, we will visit the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque), noted for its blue tile decorations and considered a significant work of Ottoman architecture.
Our final stop is the Suleymaniye Mosque, which held the title of the largest mosque in Istanbul for over 450 years. Designed by renowned architect Mimar Sinan, it showcases impressive dimensions.
After a 4-hour exploration of these mosques, we will conclude the tour at the meeting point.
