On this excursion to Cholula from Puebla, we'll visit one of the oldest sites in Mexico and a Talavera pottery factory.
Cholula & Talavera Factory Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puebla to go to the archaeological site of Cholula.
We'll take a 2-hour tour of the complex, which contains the largest pyramid in Mesoamerica. It is reported to be larger than the pyramid of Giza, in Egypt.
While the Great Pyramid of Cholula remains partially unearthed, we'll explore the accessible areas. We'll visit the Patio of the Altars with its three symmetrical altars and then climb to the top of the pyramid to reach the 16th-century Church of Los Remedios.
After the Cholula visit, we'll stop at the Church of Santa Maria Tonantzintla, known for its baroque art, followed by the Church of San Francisco Acatepec, recognized for its ceramic mosaics and red brick façade.
To conclude the excursion, we'll tour a Talavera pottery factory, learning about its history and viewing various artisan pieces.
We will return to your hotel in Puebla approximately 5-6 hours after initial pickup.
