Arab Baths and Villardompardo Palace Tour
We'll meet at the Arab Baths Cultural Centre to begin a tour of the Villardompardo Palace, a 16th century Renaissance building under which the Baths are located.
The guided tour will begin at the Palace, which served as the residence of the First Count of Villardompardo and Viceroy of Peru, Fernando de Torres and Portugal. Built in the 16th century in the historic centre of Jaen, it has changed ownership and function over the years.
We'll also visit two museums currently housed within the Palace: the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs, showcasing lost crafts of the city, and the Naïf Art Museum, which is unique in Spain.
We'll continue into the largest Arab Baths in Europe, covering an area of 450 square meters and dating back to 1002, exemplifying the washing ritual of the Muslim population. The tour includes viewing the four rooms of these traditional Arab baths.
After approximately an hour and a half, we'll conclude our guided tour on the Terrace-Viewpoint, offering views of the city.
