3-Day Hiking Tour to Pico Duarte

  • 3 Tage

On this 3-day hiking tour around Pico Duarte, you'll start from Jarabacoa and climb the highest mountain in the Antilles.

Description

Day 1

We will pick you up from the campground on Calle de la Piña and travel to the Cordillera Central. This area in the Dominican Republic, located between the José Armando Bermúdez National Park and the José Carmen Ramírez National Park, leads to Pico Duarte.

Our driver will take us to the Manabao swamp, where we will start our hiking route of about 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) through the jungle. A break will be taken halfway through before reaching La Compartición, a mountain encampment at about 2450 metres (8000 feet) above sea level.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will begin our ascent towards Pico Duarte via a 13-kilometre (8 miles) trail. Multiple stops will be made to eat and appreciate the pine, ebony, and mahogany forests.

On reaching the summit of Pico Duarte at 3087 metres (10,127 feet), we will enjoy panoramic views before returning to the encampment for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will hike back to the Manabao swamp for a picnic lunch before returning to the meeting point in Jarabacoa, expected in the late afternoon.
