Hundreds of birds and one of the largest sinkholes in America are featured in this hiking route through the Buraco das Araras, where visitors can see macaws and caimans.
Buraco das Araras Hiking Tour
At the scheduled time, we will meet at the BR-267 road, at the junction with the Buraco das Araras natural site. Participants will embark on a hike to explore this 127-meter-deep sinkhole, the largest in Latin America. Information on the formation of this nature reserve will be provided while admiring the surrounding sandstone landscape.
The hiking route includes several stops at viewpoints to observe the geological formations and various bird species inhabiting the area. The location is known as "Macaw Hole," where guests may see macaws flying nearby with their distinctive red plumage.
Accompanied by a guide, participants will learn about the flora and fauna of the Buraco das Araras sinkhole. It is possible to spot caimans swimming in the lagoon at the bottom of the cliff during the visit.
The hike will conclude at the starting point after one hour of walking through the Buraco das Araras.
