Uncover Armenia's rich history on this excursion from Yerevan, where we'll explore the iconic Garni Temple and the awe-inspiring Geghard Monastery. It's an experience you won’t want to miss!
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at 96 Nalbandyan Street, Yerevan, to begin our exploration of Armenia's historical treasures.
Our first stop is Garni, approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Yerevan. En route, we’ll have a brief stop at Charents Arch, built in 1957 to honor Yeghishe Charents, offering views of the Ararat Valley and Mount Masis.
Next, we’ll visit the Garni Temple, a blend of Greco-Roman and Armenian architecture, which symbolizes Armenia's ancient pagan culture. During a one-hour guided tour, explore the ruins of the royal palace and baths, featuring a preserved mosaic.
For visits between March 1 and November 15, we’ll stop at the Symphony of Stones, a natural formation resembling a grand stone cathedral.
We'll also engage in a lavash-making workshop lasting 40 minutes, where you'll learn baking techniques and enjoy freshly baked lavash with cheese and fresh herbs.
Then, we’ll proceed to Geghard Monastery, a 13th-century site carved into the mountainside and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The one-hour guided tour will cover the rock-cut churches.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Yerevan, concluding the tour after five to six hours of exploration.
Itinerary Adjustments
Due to winter road conditions, the Symphony of Stones will not be included for trips between November 16 and February 28.
