Uncover Armenia's rich history on this excursion from Yerevan, exploring the iconic Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery.
Tour Details
We'll meet at 96 Nalbandyan Street in Yerevan to begin our journey. Our first stop, Garni, is about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the city. We will take a brief break at Charents Arch to admire views of Ararat Valley and Mount Masis.
Upon arrival at Garni Temple, you will enjoy a one-hour guided tour, exploring the ruins of the royal palace and baths, where a preserved mosaic is located. If visiting between March 1 and November 15, we will also stop at the Symphony of Stones, a natural formation of basalt columns.
Next, a lavash-making workshop will allow you to learn traditional baking techniques in 40 minutes, followed by a tasting of your freshly baked lavash with cheese and fresh herbs.
We will then proceed to the Geghard Monastery, a 13th-century complex and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll have a one-hour guided tour of its rock-cut churches.
The tour concludes with a return to Yerevan after five to six hours of exploration.
Itinerary Adjustments
From November 16 to February 28, the Symphony of Stones will not be included due to winter road conditions.
