Uncover Armenia's rich history on this excursion from Yerevan, where we'll explore the iconic Garni Temple and the awe-inspiring Geghard Monastery.
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at 96 Nalbandyan Street in Yerevan to begin our journey. Our first stop is Garni, approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Yerevan. A brief break at Charents Arch will offer views of the Ararat Valley and Mount Masis.
Next is the Garni Temple, showcasing a blend of Greco-Roman and Armenian architecture, the last symbol of Armenia's ancient pagan culture. A one-hour guided tour includes the ruins of the royal palace and baths with a mosaic.
From March 1 to November 15, we’ll also visit the Symphony of Stones, a natural formation of basalt columns. Following this, a 40-minute lavash-making workshop will allow you to learn ancient baking techniques and taste your freshly baked lavash with cheese and fresh herbs.
We will then proceed to the Geghard Monastery, a 13th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site with rock-cut churches, during a one-hour guided tour. Finally, we return to the starting point in Yerevan, concluding the tour after five to six hours.
Itinerary Adjustments
From November 16 to February 28, the Symphony of Stones will not be included in the itinerary due to winter road conditions.
