Gyumri Day Trip

On this day trip from Yerevan, we will travel to the north of Armenia to visit the town of Gyumri and the famous Black Fortress.

Day Trip Details

We will meet at Nalbanyan Street, 96, and drive to Gyumri, a key city in northern Armenia.

Upon arriving in Gyumri, we will visit the Sev Berd fortress, or Black Fortress, to understand its circular plan and its role in the Russo-Turkish war of the 19th century.

Next, we will tour the Museum of National Architecture and Urban Life, located in a red tuff mansion built in 1872 by merchant Petros Dzitoghtsyan. The museum features a collection on Armenian daily life, culture, and history.

We will then proceed to the city center for a walk to admire some of Gyumri's oldest 19th-century buildings. Following this, you will have 1 hour of free time to explore and try local Armenian cuisine.

Before returning to Yerevan, we will take a 30-minute tour of the Harichavank monastery, located on the western slope of Mount Aragats. We will conclude our tour after approximately 10 to 11 hours, returning to our initial meeting point.
