On this day trip from Yerevan, we'll travel to the north of Armenia to visit the town of Gyumri and the famous Black Fortress, linked to the Russian army.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet on Nalbanyan Street, 96. From Yerevan, we'll drive to Gyumri, a key city in northern Armenia.
Upon arrival in Gyumri, we'll first visit the Sev Berd fortress, known as the Black Fortress, where we will learn about its circular design and its role in the Russo-Turkish war of the 19th century.
We'll continue our tour at the Museum of National Architecture and Urban Life, located in a red tuff mansion commissioned by merchant Petros Dzitoghtsyan in 1872, featuring a comprehensive collection on Armenian daily life, culture, and history.
Next, we will visit the city center to walk and admire some of its oldest buildings, showcasing 19th-century architecture. You will then have 1 hour of free time to explore and sample local Armenian cuisine.
Before returning to Yerevan, we'll tour the Harichavank monastery for 30 minutes, situated on the western slope of Mount Aragats. The tour concludes with our departure from the initial meeting point after a total duration of 10 to 11 hours.
