Jerez Alcazar & Cathedral Guided Tour Itinerary
Meeting at the scheduled time in Plaza del Arenal, the main square of Jerez de la Frontera, the walking tour will begin with an exploration of key historic buildings and monuments.
The tour will start in Alameda Vieja Park, leading to the significant Alcazar of Jerez, noted for its Almohad architecture and serving as the oldest monument in the city.
Passing through the City Gate, we will enter the Alcazar complex, visiting the Patio de Armas, gardens, Arab baths, pharmacy, and Villavicencio Palace, a baroque structure built on earlier Islamic palace foundations.
Next, we will proceed to Encarnacion Square to visit the Cathedral. Inside, the blend of Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles will be noticeable. A visit to the cathedral museum and sacristies will reveal the renowned La Virgen Niña en oración by Francisco de Zurbarán.
The tour concludes in Plaza de la Encarnación after approximately two hours.
Itinerary Changes
From December 28, 2025, to January 5, 2026, visits to the Alcazar will be modified due to the celebration of the Cartero Real. Access during these dates will be limited to the garden, Arab baths, and towers, with potential extensions to December 26 and 27.
