Are you familiar with the Kolla culture? Have you heard about the chullpas? Join us on this insightful journey through Sillustani, where we will delve into Peru's pre-Inca era and explore one of the most remarkable burial sites in the nation.

Sillustani Tour

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Juliaca between 1:50 pm and 2:00 pm, followed by a minibus ride to the Juliaca burial complex. This drive will last around one hour.

Upon arrival, we'll dedicate two hours to uncovering the archaeological ruins originating from pre-Inca times. As we trek through the hills encircling Lake Umayo, you will encounter numerous cylindrical structures known as chullpas. These monuments predominantly belong to the Kolla, or Colla, culture that thrived in this region prior to the Incas. Together, we'll discover the significance behind these towers...

During our exploration, we'll gain insights into the traditions and spiritual beliefs of the Colla people, getting close to the chullpas that served as tombs for high-ranking officials, priests, and leaders of this ancient civilization. Many of these burial sites are oriented towards the east and are filled with offerings such as food and invaluable metals. Join us to learn more about their fascinating customs!

The tour will conclude at 6:00 pm, after which we will return you to your hotel in Juliaca.
