Day Trip to Abu Simbel by Plane

Ramses II left behind one of Egypt's great monumental complexes for posterity: the temples of Abu Simbel. Decode their secrets on this excursion.

Tour Highlights

We'll pick you up at your hotel to make our way to Cairo Airport, where we'll take a flight to Abu Simbel, located in Southern Egypt.

Upon arrival, we'll tour the architectural area to participate in a guided tour of the Abu Simbel temples. Ramses II, known as the 'builder pharaoh,' commissioned the construction of these monumental structures in Nubia to reflect his power. The temples, designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, were relocated during the construction of the Aswan Dam in 1960 to preserve them.

After his victory at Qadesh, Ramses II built a great temple dedicated to the Gods. We will explore this significant site through the main entrance, flanked by two massive sculptures of Ramses II.

We will also visit the Smaller Temple dedicated to Nefertari, Ramses II's favorite wife. Here, you can test your knowledge of Hieroglyphs by deciphering some of the inscriptions carved into the rock before continuing to uncover the mysteries of ancient Egypt.

After the archaeological tour, we will head to the nearby Abu Simbel airport, approximately 20 minutes from the temples. From there, we'll fly back to Cairo and return you to your hotel.
