Excursion to the Fayoum Oasis

Head south from Cairo to the Fayoum Oasis, a significant natural space in Egypt, where history and nature intertwine.

Itinerary

After hotel pickup, we will travel south to explore the fertile landscape of the Fayoum Oasis. This area is rich in history and evidence of ancient Egyptian habitation.

The oasis occupies a vast area near the Nile canals. Notable is the Meidum Pyramid, dating back to around 2,600 BC, showcasing its historical importance.

We will pass through the city of Fayoum, eventually reaching Lake Qarun, a prominent feature of the Oasis. The lake, situated below sea level, has a large surface area spanning several hundred square kilometers. On its shores, we will visit the Kas Karun archaeological site, home to temples and fortresses from various historical periods.

Lunch will be served on the banks of Lake Qarun, where we can observe the diverse local fauna, particularly the abundant bird species. In the evening, we will return to the hotels in Cairo.
