Discover the great tradition of Buddhism in Sri Lanka with this private tour of the most important temples in Kandy. Visit the magnificent shrines of Embekke Devalaya, Lankatilaka Rajamaha Viharaya, and Gadaladeniya Viharaya.
Day Trip Details
Pick-up will occur from your hotel at 8:30 am in an air-conditioned vehicle as we set off through Kandy to explore the importance of Sri Lanka's Buddhist religion.
Our first destination is the Gadaladeniya Viharaya temple, constructed by King Bhuvanekabahu IV entirely of stone.
The tour continues through the picturesque rice fields to Lankatilaka Rajamaha Viharaya temple. Upon arrival, guests will explore this ancient building and learn about the customs and rituals of Buddhism.
Next, we will visit the Embekke Devalaya temple, built by King Vikramabahu III to honor King Mahasena. The tour will include its three main areas: the Garagha shrine, the dance hall, and the drummers' hall.
Return to your hotel is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
