Activity Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Kandy to travel 2.5 hours by minibus to Minneriya National Park.

At the entrance, we'll get on a jeep to start the Minneriya photograph safari around the wetlands. This area contains a diverse range of species from crocodiles to monkeys and slow loris.

After a picnic stop, we'll continue the safari to admire the famous Minneriya elephants, which can weigh up to five tonnes and are generally seen in small herds throughout the park.

During the safari, we'll also try to spot various species of Asian birds. Notable birds in the park include pelicans, herons, and ibises, often seen alongside Ceylon buffalos, which are peaceful animals despite their intimidating appearance.

To end the safari around Minneriya, we'll return to the minibus and head back to our hotels in Kandy, arriving 8.5 hours later.
