Private Kandy Temples Day Trip

Discover the great tradition of Buddhism in Sri Lanka with this private tour of the most important temples in Kandy. Visit the shrines of Embekke Devalaya, Lankatilaka Rajamaha Viharaya, and Gadaladeniya Viharaya.

Day Trip Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 am. We will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle through the streets of Kandy to learn about the importance of Sri Lanka's Buddhist religion.

Our first visit is at the Gadaladeniya Viharaya temple, built by King Bhuvanekabahu IV entirely of stone.

Next, we head through the picturesque rice fields to the Lankatilaka Rajamaha Viharaya temple. There, we will explore this ancient building and learn about the customs and rituals of Buddhism.

We will then visit the Embekke Devalaya temple, built by King Vikramabahu III in honor of King Mahasena. The tour will cover its three main areas: the Garagha shrine, the dance hall, and the drummers' hall.

We will return to your hotel, arriving at 5:30 pm.
