Activity Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Kandy to travel 2.5 hours by minibus to Minneriya National Park.

At the entrance, we'll get on a jeep for the Minneriya photo safari around the wetlands of this protected natural area. It contains a diverse range of species including crocodiles , monkeys, and slow loris.

After a picnic stop, we'll continue the safari to admire the famous Minneriya elephants, which can weigh up to five tonnes. These animals group in small herds and are usually visible at various points around the park.

During the safari, we'll also look for various species of Asian birds, including pelicans, herons, and ibises that share the lakes and waterholes with Ceylon buffalos. While they appear intimidating, they are actually peaceful animals.

To conclude the safari around Minneriya, we'll return to the minibus and head back to our hotels in Kandy, arriving 8.5 hours later.
