Kathmandu Temples Tour Details
On the day of your tour, you'll be picked up from your hotel at 9 am to explore the temples of Kathmandu Valley with your expert English-speaking guide.
The first stop will be Durbar Square, meaning royal palace. This historic square is located in front of the old royal palace of the former Newar Kingdom of Kathmandu and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It remains the heart of the old town, featuring palaces, temples, and courtyards that reflect Nepal's architectural heritage.
Next, you'll be transported by bus to the Pashupatinath temple, located in the east of Kathmandu Valley, approximately a 20-minute journey. Pashupatinath is a vast Hindu complex situated on the banks of the sacred River Bagmati. Dating back to the 5th century and dedicated to the deity Shiva, it consists of over 500 temples, monuments, and ashrams built in the pagoda style, with a notable gold roof on the main sanctuary.
Following this, you'll visit the Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath, one of the largest in the world and regarded as a significant spiritual site in Kathmandu.
The tour will conclude at Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, noted for its architectural majesty, vibrant prayer flags, and distinctive paintings of the Buddha's eyes and eyebrows. You will be dropped back off at your hotel at 5 pm.
