Myra & Kekova + St. Nicholas Church Tour
Your adventure begins at 8 am with a pickup from your accommodation in Kemer. Are you ready to uncover the hidden gems of the Turquoise Coast? Our journey will take us through the Taurus Mountains, which serve as the southern boundary of the Anatolian plateau, guiding us toward the beautiful Turkish Riviera.
Upon arrival, we will embark on a boat trip to the sunken city of Kekova. This uninhabited isle holds the remnants of an ancient Lycian settlement, submerged after a seismic event. We will witness some of the remains visible beneath the water, including the tombs of Simena.
After our boat adventure, we will disembark and continue our exploration on land in Myra, another notable Lycian city renowned for its carved stone tombs. Our visit will include the necropolis, as well as its Roman theater and amphitheater. Following this, we will proceed to the church of St. Nicholas in the nearby village of Demre, where the bones of St. Nicholas rest.
Rest assured, our beloved Santa will still deliver gifts next Christmas Eve. The remains in this church belong to St. Nicholas, the saint who served as the inspiration for the modern figure of Santa Claus.
After exploring these historical wonders, you're likely to feel hungry. Fear not, as we will head to a local establishment in Demre to savor a delightful buffet-style lunch. Finally, we will board a bus back to Kemer, with an estimated return to your hotel around 5 pm.
