We'll cross the River Nore and head towards the church of St. John the Evangelist, a neo-Gothic style chapel built in the early twentieth century. We'll review its history and discover why Kilkenny is known as the city of marble.

We will admire the exterior of the imposing fortress of Kilkenny, whose origins date back to the 12th century. We'll discuss the Butler family and their connection to the Norman conquest of Ireland.

Our guided tour will continue through the most picturesque streets of the town, observing its medieval heritage. We will see the Library, the Town Hall, the exterior of the Dominican abbey, and the Cathedral.
