This tour will take you across the natural landscapes of Transylvania. We'll see breathtaking places and find out about the union of Romania and the Roman Empire.
Turda Salt Mine and Alba Iulia Tour
We'll meet up at the Matias Corvino monument at the scheduled time and head to the Turda salt mine, one of the most spectacular natural sites in the Transylvanian region.
Upon arrival, we'll go underground to discover the immense galleries of the salt mine, which extend over 45 square kilometers (17 square miles). We'll visit notable areas such as the octagonal-shaped Crivac rooms, the lake with its island, and the Rudolf Mine, which resembles a salt cathedral. You will have free time to visit the amusement park inside if you choose.
The next stop will be Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyad, one of the largest gothic buildings in Romania. We'll take a guided tour and learn about its connections to Vlad the Impaler.
We'll continue to Alba Iulia, the religious capital of Romania, where we will walk through the Alba Carolina citadel, a well-preserved star-shaped fortress. We’ll explore its streets and admire the two cathedrals, one Romanesque and another from the nineteenth century, where the first kings of Romania were crowned.
After an eleven to twelve-hour excursion, our tour will conclude back at the meeting point in Cluj.
