At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Generator Copenhagen Hostel to begin this free tour of Copenhagen. We'll walk around the Port of Copenhagen and discover its history as a place of economic and cultural exchange. Key monuments will be highlighted along the way.
On our route to the coastal area, we'll pass through the King's Gardens and see the exterior of Rosenborg Castle until we reach Nyboder, known for its striking orange buildings built in the 17th century for the Danish Navy. The connection between the growth of the merchant port and navy expansion will be discussed.
We'll arrive at Kastellet, one of Northern Europe's oldest forts. After exploring this citadel, we’ll reach the sculpture of the Little Mermaid, honoring one of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales and an iconic city symbol.
The area around the statue offers views of the Port of Copenhagen, the largest harbour in Denmark. We'll share interesting facts about the port. As we walk along the harbour, we will see the Copenhagen Opera House, the Nyholm Central Guardhouse, and the lively Ofelia Plads. The tour concludes after 2.5 hours at the Nyhavn Canal in the heart of Copenhagen.
