This free tour of the Little Mermaid and the Port of Copenhagen is the best way to learn about the Danish capital's maritime history. We'll also discover the secrets of its most famous statue!

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Generator Copenhagen Hostel to begin this free tour of Copenhagen.

During this tour, we will walk around the Port of Copenhagen to discover its history as a place of economic and cultural exchange for centuries. We will see various monuments and learn about their origins.

On our way to the coastal area, we will pass through the King's Gardens and see the exterior of Rosenborg Castle, reaching Nyboder, known for its striking orange buildings built in the 17th century for the Danish Navy. We will discuss the link between the growth of the merchant port and the increase in navy personnel.

Upon arriving at Kastellet, one of the oldest forts in Northern Europe, we will walk through this citadel and reach the sculpture of the Little Mermaid, an icon of the city representing Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Remember to bring your camera!

This area offers a view of the Port of Copenhagen, the largest harbour in Denmark and a key location in the Baltic Sea. We will share interesting facts about it.

As we walk along the harbour, we will also see the Copenhagen Opera House, Nyholm Central Guardhouse, and the lively Ofelia Plads. The tour concludes after 2.5 hours at the Nyhavn Canal in the heart of Copenhagen.
