Frederiksborg Castle Day Trip Itinerary
After meeting your guide at Copenhagen Central Station, you will board a train to Hillerød. The journey lasts approximately one hour, offering views of Zealand's landscapes.
Upon arrival at Hillerød train station, there is a 15-minute walk to Frederiksborg Castle, located on three islets on the Castle Lake. You will begin the guided tour in the castle's landscaped gardens and enjoy a stroll through the French-style parterres and mazes. The castle is home to the Danish Museum of National History.
The museum features a large collection of antique furniture, historical paintings, and royal portraits. You will visit the Audience Chamber and the Great Hall, admiring the tapestries and Baroque interiors. Explore the Frederiksborg Castle Chapel, known for its gold and silver altar, and one of Europe's oldest organs.
Observe the castle's exterior architectural highlights, including the clocktower and the Neptune fountain, symbolizing Denmark's historical power. Around 12:30 pm, you will return to Hillerød train station, arriving back in Copenhagen after approximately one hour.
