Kronborg Castle Day Trip Itinerary
Your excursion will begin at Copenhagen Central Station, where you'll board a train heading to Helsingør. After approximately one hour, you'll arrive at Helsingør Railway Station and walk 20 minutes to Kronborg Castle, located on Zealand's northeastern tip. This historic fortress, dating back to the 15th century, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Enter the complex via a bridge and observe the castle that inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet. Discover legends surrounding the Danish prince. Explore the various chambers and halls of Kronborg Castle to learn about its history and inhabitants. After visiting the interior, enjoy a stroll outside, where an impressive collection of cannons and the gardens offer views of the Øresund Strait to Helsingborg.
After your guided tour, you'll return to Helsingør train station around 12 pm for the return train to Copenhagen.
Important information
This day trip does not include transportation or entrance to the Kronborg Castle. To travel to Helsingør by train, a 24-hour ticket costing 130DKK per person is required. Entrance to the castle varies: 90DKK from September to May and 140DKK from June to August. Children under 18 enter for free.
With a Copenhagen Card, train transport to Helsingør and entrance to Kronborg Castle are included.
