Kronborg Castle Day Trip Itinerary

Your excursion begins at Copenhagen Central Station, where you'll board a train to Helsingør. After approximately one hour, you'll arrive at Helsingør Railway Station and walk 20 minutes to Kronborg Castle, located on the northeastern tip of Zealand. This historic fortress dates back to the 15th century and is a designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Enter the fortress via a bridge, encountering the imposing castle that inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet. Discover the legends surrounding the Danish prince who is a mythical figure in literature. Explore the castle’s chambers, halls, and ballrooms to learn about its history and inhabitants. After visiting the interior, stroll around the exterior to see an impressive collection of cannons and enjoy views over the Øresund Strait to the coastal town of Helsingborg.

After your tour, walk back to Helsingør train station by around 12 pm to catch the return train to Copenhagen.

Important information

This day trip does not include transport or entrance to Kronborg Castle. To travel to Helsingør by train, purchase a 24-hour ticket for 130DKK per person. Entrance fees for Kronborg Castle are 90DKK from September to May and 140DKK from June to August. Children under 18 enter for free.
