Roskilde Day Trip Itinerary

Meet your English-speaking guide at the Copenhagen Central Station in the morning. You'll catch the train to Roskilde, arriving after approximately 25 minutes. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the historic city, admiring the Gothic Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the final resting place of 39 Danish monarchs. Your guide will share facts about the history of notable royals.

Continue to the Viking Ship Museum at the Roskilde Fjord, showcasing the longest Viking warship, which was 118 feet (36 m) long and capable of holding up to 100 warriors. You'll also see the Skuldelev ships, five original Viking boats sunk about 1000 years ago.

After the museum visit, return to Roskilde station to take the train back to Copenhagen, arriving 4 hours later.

Free time

Instead of returning with the tour group around 1 pm, you may choose to spend the rest of your day in Roskilde. Enjoy lunch, visit the Cathedral, or take a Viking boat trip on the Fjord. If staying, check the train times for your return journey to Copenhagen.

Important information

This day trip does not include transport or entrance to the Viking Ship Museum. A 24-hour train ticket to Roskilde costs 130 DKK per person, while entrance to the Viking Boat Museum costs between 85 DKK and 150 DKK, depending on the season. If you have the Copenhagen Card, transport and museum entrance are included.
