Roskilde Day Trip Itinerary

Meet your English-speaking guide at the Copenhagen Central Station in the morning. From here, you'll catch the train to Roskilde, arriving in approximately 25 minutes. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city, highlighting the Gothic Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and final resting place of 39 Danish monarchs, while learning about royal history.

Continue to the Viking Ship Museum at the Roskilde Fjord. The museum exhibits various vessels, including the longest Viking warship, capable of carrying up to 100 warriors, and the Skuldelev ships, five Viking boats sunk to protect the city. After the museum visit, return to the Roskilde station for the train back to Copenhagen, arriving 4 hours later.

Free time

Instead of returning to Copenhagen around 1 pm, you can spend the rest of the day in Roskilde. Options include lunch, visiting the Cathedral, or taking a Viking boat trip on the Fjord. If you stay, check the train times for your return journey.

Important information

This day trip does not include transport or entrance to the Viking Ship Museum. A 24-hour train ticket to Roskilde costs 130 DKK per person. The entrance ticket to the Viking Ship Museum ranges from 85 DKK to 150 DKK depending on the season. If you have the Copenhagen Card, transport and museum entrance are included.
