On this Kusadasi day trip for cruise ships, we will explore the city's history and monuments, including the Güvercinada Island castle, the Grand Bazaar, and the Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai.
Day Trip Details
We will meet outside the exit gate of the Port of Ku?adas? to begin a walking tour of this spa town in the province of Ayd?n.
Initially, we will observe the exterior of the Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai, a notable example of Ottoman architecture. You will learn about the function of caravanserais in ancient trade routes. Currently, this caravanserai serves as a hotel and has hosted former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
Next, we will visit the island of Güvercinada, linked to the mainland by a footbridge. The island features an ancient castle with defensive walls nearly 3 meters high, which played a crucial role in thwarting attacks during an 18th-century Greek revolt.
As we proceed towards the Grand Bazaar, we will discuss the history of Kusadasi and notable individuals associated with the city. This marks a suitable opportunity to purchase souvenirs.
The day trip will conclude back at the starting point after approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
