Having been picked up from your hotel in Kusadasi, you'll head south through the Turkish province of Aydin. Travel through time to the ancient city of Ionia, as this area of Asia Minor was known in Ancient Greece.

The first stop on your tour will be the Priene archaeological site. This historic Ionian town was one of the first cities in the coastal area of Anatolia to follow a strict street plan, designed with all of its public buildings within walking distance. Discover how its ancient inhabitants would have lived, visiting the remains of the main city square, known as an agora; admiring the theatre and the bouleuterion, the building where the democratic council of citizens would meet.

Continuing south, you'll visit the nearby ruins of Miletus, considered to be one of the greatest and wealthiest Ancient Greek cities. Marvel at the vestiges of its historic splendour as you explore its theatre, temples and the other public buildings that were frequented by emblematic figures such as Thales of Miletus, a great mathematician.
