Caño Cristales Excursion

On this tour from La Macarena, you'll discover the Caño Cristales, a 7-colour river located in the jungles of Colombia's interior.

Description

We'll pick you up from La Macarena airport and head to the riverport to begin our speed boat ride on the Guaybero River. After about 20 minutes, we'll arrive at Los Mangos harbour. From there, we will take a 4x4 jeep into the Colombian jungle for approximately 40 minutes, reaching the Sierra de la Macarena checkpoint. We will then start our hike towards Caño Cristales, located in the Department of Meta.

The hike duration will depend on the group's pace, and we will see various wells and natural swimming pools like the Ochos, the Pianos, the Piscina del Turista, and the Tapete. We will take a break at a chosen spot for a swim in nature.

At the trail's end, you'll witness the famous Caño Cristales, known as the 7-colour river, showcasing colours such as blue, pink, green, red, yellow, and black. You'll have opportunities to take photos of this unique natural phenomenon.

We'll enjoy an outdoor lunch featuring cold meats wrapped in banana leaves before returning on foot to the hike's starting point. We will then transfer back by jeep to Los Mangos and take a speed boat back to La Macarena river harbour, arriving at La Macarena airport around 5 pm.

Visiting Caño Cristales is not permitted on the same day of arrival in La Macarena, as an obligatory talk by the staff of Colombia's National Parks must be attended. We will keep you updated on the schedule for both the chat and the tour's start time.
