Caño Cristales Excursion

On this tour from La Macarena, you'll discover the Caño Cristales, a 7-colour river located in the jungles of Colombia's interior.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from La Macarena airport and head to the riverport to start our speed boat ride on the Guaybero River.

After approximately 20 minutes, we'll arrive at the Los Mangos harbour. We'll then take a 4x4 jeep for a 40-minute journey to the Sierra de la Macarena checkpoint, where we'll begin our hike towards Caño Cristales.

During the hike, the duration of which depends on the group's pace, we'll visit various wells and natural swimming pools such as Ochos, Pianos, Piscina del Turista, and Tapete. We'll take a break at a preferred spot for a refreshing dip.

At the end of the trail, you'll find Caño Cristales, known for its vibrant colors: blue, pink, green, red, yellow, and black. You will have opportunities for photos of this unique feature.

We'll enjoy a lunch outdoors featuring various cold meats wrapped in banana leaves, after which we'll hike back to the starting point. We will then return by jeep to Los Mangos, followed by a speed boat back to La Macarena river harbour.

Upon disembarking, we will transfer you to La Macarena airport, aiming to arrive by around 5 pm.

Note that visits to Caño Cristales are not permitted on the same day you arrive in La Macarena due to an obligatory talk by Colombia's National Parks staff.
