What's the difference between a Canary Island banana and any other banana? Come and find out on our La Orotava Banana Plantation Tour. You'll learn about banana ripening and local agricultural techniques on this organic plantation.

La Orotava Banana Plantation Tour

At your chosen time, we'll meet at the organic Canary Island banana plantation on El Rincón road, in the municipality of La Orotava. From this location in Northern Tenerife, you'll enjoy views of Mount Teide.

Our visit will start with a walk around the grounds while we explain the plantation's origins. As we observe the banana trees, we'll discuss all the steps involved in the banana production process, from gestation to commercialization.

We'll detail the unique characteristics of the Canary Island banana, the only variety that has attained the Protected Geographical Indication seal. This product takes three months longer to ripen than American bananas, resulting in its intense flavor and high nutrient content.

As we are on an ecological farm, we'll describe the thriving ecosystem, including beneficial insects, grains for soil health, and birds that provide fertilizer.

At the end of our walk, we'll enjoy a tasting of Canary Island bananas and a shot made from the fruit.

After a 50-minute visit, we'll conclude outside the plantation.
