El Choro Trail 4 Day Hike

Day 1: La Paz - La Cumbre - Challapampa

At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and drive to La Cumbre, about 45 minutes from La Paz. We will begin a 5-hour ascent via the El Choro Trail. A stop for lunch will be made along the way. After reaching the Apacheta Chucura summit at almost 16,000 feet (4,870 metres), we will descend, passing Samaña Pampa and Chucura peaks until we arrive at Challapampa at 9,560 feet (2,915 metres). Dinner will be served before settling in for the night.

Day 2: Challapampa - Sandillani

We wake up at 7:30 am for breakfast. After packing our tents, we start a 7-hour hike through the jungle-like section of the trail with breaks for rest and lunch. Following the Chucura River, we will pass through streams, waterfalls, and villages, including El Choro at 7,200 feet (2,200 metres) known for its suspension bridge. Our destination is Sandillani, where we will set up camp, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 3: Sandillani - El Chairo - Coroico

On the third day, after breakfast and packing, we will start our hike through the mountains. After about 3 hours, we arrive at El Chairo where a vehicle will take us to Coroico. This town, noted for its high-quality coffee, will be our accommodation for the night.

Day 4: Coroico - La Paz

On the final day, we will have a leisurely breakfast. The return journey to La Paz will begin at a time agreed upon the previous evening. The journey takes approximately 3 hours.

Accommodation and meals

This tour includes 2 nights' accommodation in tents and 1 night in Coroico at Hostal Sol y Luna*** or similar. Breakfast includes a hot drink and a sandwich. Lunches and dinners consist of a starter, a main course of meat and vegetables, and a soft drink.
