Neo-Andean Architecture Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at the La Paz purple cable car station to make our way west of the capital towards El Alto.
While in the cable car cabin, you'll see La Paz from a unique perspective and take photos of the city. El Alto is located at an average elevation of 13,100 feet (4,000 metres) and has undergone accelerated growth, providing its inhabitants with an enviable economic status.
Upon arrival, the guide will explain how architecture has influenced this development with brightly coloured and futuristic mansions. These iconic Neo-Andean houses, known as cholets in Spanish, fuse pre-Colombian civilizations with modern trends.
We'll stroll around El Alto to observe these constructions and learn about Freddy Mamani, the most renowned indigenous architect of this style. Additionally, we'll use public transport in El Alto to see the best cholets.
During the tour, we'll visit shops offering traditional costumes for the Preste, an indigenous festivity in the Bolivian Andes.
Finally, we'll take the cable car back to La Paz, concluding our tour between 12 pm and 12:30 pm.
