Guided Tour of a Pearl Farm

We will commence our journey in the Pichilingue industrial area, where our exploration of a La Paz pearl farm will take place. With only two such farms across Mexico, this unique experience is not to be missed.

At the pearl farm, you'll gain insight into the intriguing process of crafting these aquatic gems. Interestingly, it takes approximately six years for pearls to form. The cultivation demands careful attention and an optimal environment for the pearls to mature successfully.

During our tour, we will delve into the historical significance of pearls within the region, tracing their impact from the ancient inhabitants of Baja California to contemporary society.

You will also acquire knowledge about both traditional and contemporary methods utilized in pearl farming, and how this industry has shaped the local culture and economy throughout history. Additionally, there will be opportunities to interact with various marine life, including oysters, crabs, starfish, sea urchins, and fish.

After an enlightening two hours, we will conclude our experience.
