We will meet at the Pichilingue industrial area to begin our visit to a pearl farm in La Paz. This experience is unique as there are only two pearl farms in all of Mexico.
At the pearl farm, you will observe the creation process of these marine treasures, which take approximately six years to develop. The cultivation process requires specific environmental conditions and meticulous care.
During the tour, we will discuss the historical significance of pearls in the region, tracing from the first inhabitants of Baja California to modern times.
You will also learn about traditional and modern techniques used in pearl farming and understand how this industry has shaped local culture and economy. Additionally, you will have the chance to interact with various marine organisms such as oysters, crabs, starfish, sea urchins, and fish.
The tour lasts for 2 hours.
